For my installations I fist try to find out the subject of a certain space. Then I work with my installing process so, that the special athmosphere of the room is intensified and certain mental qualities get obvious for the visitor.

Project description for Kronstadt

I want to make a work about the tension between military attitude, soviet ethics and contemporary decline, that noticed watching people and environment in Kronstadt one year ago. The atheist cosmos, sport, discipline, ideals, visions of conquest of the world in relation to the everyday reality there now is a subject I would like to deal with in form of an installation in an indoor space.

In the Cave of Russian Soul/ St. Petersbourg (Rus) 2003

This installation in a big contemporary art show in St Petersburg was ment to confrontate my own prejudices about russian mentality with the picture, that russians have of themselfes. I made a chamberlike room with soviet wallpaper and drawings of “moods” on the wall that were to be lightened by a mine lamp. Books with collages oput off newspaper fotos were illustrating my view about Russia and one empty book was ment to take the comments of the guests.

The Secret of the Balcony/ Elniu Slenis (Lit) 2003

In a former soviet rest home for melioration workers is to be found in the dining hall abalcony, that is impossible to enter. I did a work about a given and not fullfilled promise there. I installeded a landscape from straw, coal, chalk and glass and equipped the balcony reminding to a cosy chamber. It was possible to climb up there on a latter and to get surprized or disappointed.

Brittle Chamber/ Berlin (Ger) 2004

The Brittle Chamber is a mental landscape made from paper telling about the sleeping of the nature, the dying inside and outside, about bleaching and vanishing.
It is an inner landscape visualized. It needs a visitor, cause it is ment as a surrounding.

Broadcast/ Berlin (Ger) 2004

In the building of the former broadcast of GDR I made an installation about the people that once worked there, their passions and moods. The room, a former office, was very dark and in the shadows and corners were hidden “moods”, that could be seen only with the help of a pocket lamp. In the wallboards were glowing cellophan light sculptures, to make it more spooky.
